Job Summary:
The Speech Pathologist is a qualified person who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech and language therapy services to patients in their home as prescribed by the attending physician.
Qualifications :
- The Speech Pathologist is a member of the American Speech Hearing and Language Association with a Certificate of Clinical Competence in the appropriate area or meets the educational requirements for the certifications and is accumulating the supervised experience required for certification.
- Registered to practice as a ST in the state of practice if the state has registration practice.
- Has a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology and one (1) full year of supervised work experience.
- Is fulfilling the Clinical Fellowship year and is supervised by a licensed Speech Pathologist.
- Possesses and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Presents a pre-employment physician’s health clearance, including negative TB skin tests and/or CXR and other tests as required by specific state statute.
- Has the ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
- Is self-directing and has the ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling the role obligations.
- Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
- Is a licensed driver and has an automobile that is insured in accordance with Lorian Home Systems, Inc. of Las Vegas (LORIAN) requirements.
- Must be able to verbally communicate in the language of the client and document all client related activity practices.
Responsibilities :
- Providing treatment as ordered by the attending physician, dentist, or podiatrist.
- Assisting in developing and updating the plan of treatment.
- Assisting the physician in evaluating level of function.
- Observing, recording, and reporting information on the patient’s condition to the attending physician and in the patient’s health record.
- Advising, consulting, and when appropriate, instructing family and other LORIAN personnel in patient’s health record.
- Completes, maintains, and submits accurate and relevant clinical notes regarding patients/clients condition and care given in accordance with LORIAN policies and procedures.
Note: Documentation must be accurate, complete, and submitted to LORIAN before visit is deemed acceptable and payable to ST.
- Teaching and supervising other health personnel when appropriate. Evaluating the home environment and making appropriate recommendations.
- Participating in in-service education programs.
