Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian (RD) provides nutritional care, rehabilitation and education to patients based on assessments of needs, conditions, impairments, disabilities and age.
Qualifications :
- Licensed as a RD by the American Dietetics Association.
- Preferably at least one (1) year of experience as a RD.
- Possesses and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Presents a pre-employment physician’s health clearance, including negative TB skin tests and/or CXR and other tests as required by specific state statute.
- Has the ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling the role obligations.
- Demonstrates tact, patients, and good personal hygiene.
- Is a licensed driver and has an automobile that is insured in accordance with Lorian Home Systems, Inc. of Las Vegas (LORIAN) requirements.
- Must be able to verbally communicate in the language of the client and document all client related activity practices.
- Is knowledge of nutritional theories and principles; diet therapy techniques; safety and health regulations governing patient care; medical terminology; patient rights.
Responsibilities :
- Provides nutritional consultation integrated with the patient’s medical needs and goals.
- Evaluates, interpret, monitor and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of LORIAN patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines.
- Identifies and provides age specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of patients.
- Makes recommendations to the physician on patient diet orders, supplements, enteral/parenteral nutrition, and laboratory data per LORIAN policy.
- Coordinates patient food service needs with case manager and home health aide.
- Counsels patients and/or caregivers about therapeutic diets (e.g. but not limited to no concentrated sweets, low sodium, diet after Ostomy, high protein/calorie)
- Maintains RD status including continuing professional education.
- Completes, maintains, and submits accurate and relevant clinical notes regarding patients/clients condition and care given in accordance with LORIAN policies and procedures.
- Note: Documentation must be accurate, complete, and submitted to LORIAN before visit is deemed acceptable and payable to RD.
